What is a virtual run/walk?

A virtual run/walk is a distance (5K and 1 mile in this case) that can be completed at any location -– at the park, on a treadmill, around your neighborhood, or even during a local race. The distance can be can be run, walked, rolled, or marched and is always more fun with friends! You can complete your 5K or 1-mile at your own pace and even break it into smaller distances throughout multiple days. As long as you complete the distance and tag us @womensday5k with the hashtags @womensday5k and #womensday5k, you’ve participated in the virtual event!

Why is it a virtual event?

We want to make this opportunity to honor International Women’s Day available to everyone, regardless of location. The virtual race is based on an honor system and you’ll receive a virtual race bib for you to participate with.

How do I register for the International Women’s Day Virtual 5K & 1 Mile Run event?

Registration is easy! Here’s what you need to do:

  • Register for the Virtual 5K & 1 Mile Run as an individual or as a team.
  • Choose to raise additional funds for Women for Women International. Fundraising is not required to participate in the run.
  • Invite your friends (local or virtual), family members, and colleagues to complete the race with you.

How do I participate in this event?

Once you’re registered, you’ll begin receiving event updates via email from us. All you have to do next is:

  • Follow @womensday5k on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  • Choose what date you will complete the 5K or 1-Mile (between March 4-8). Check your email the week of the event, print the virtual bib and wear it when you complete your run.
  • Complete the 5K or 1-Mile Run and post a photo to Facebook and Instagram. Tag your picture with @womensday5k and use the hashtags #womensday5k so you can celebrate and connect with other participants across the globe!
